About Domain Readout

Registration data, with the source and limits made clear.

Domain Readout is a free RDAP domain lookup that turns authoritative registry responses into readable facts without hiding the raw source or overstating what the data proves.

How the lookup works

The service cleans the entered domain, identifies its top-level domain and uses current IANA bootstrap data to find the responsible RDAP service. It then requests the domain object and presents registration events, registrar entities, statuses, nameservers, public contacts and the registry-published DNSSEC signal.

Every successful result includes access to the raw RDAP JSON and its source URL. That makes the interpretation checkable instead of asking visitors to trust an unexplained third-party database.

What Domain Readout will not claim

  • A missing record is not guaranteed proof that a name is available.
  • An expiry date is not a guaranteed public release date.
  • Published nameservers are not a full live DNS health check.
  • A DNSSEC flag is not an end-to-end cryptographic validation.
  • Registration data is not proof of legal ownership or website control.
  • Redacted contact data is not reconstructed or guessed.

Editorial approach

Guides are written around questions that arise directly from the lookup result. Protocol and policy claims are checked against primary sources including ICANN, IETF RFCs, IANA bootstrap data and registry guidance. Pages display a review date and link to the sources used so readers can confirm details that may change.

Domain Readout does not create unrelated articles simply to target search traffic. Its content stays focused on RDAP, WHOIS transition, domain registration records and the signals the tool can explain.

Privacy and fair use

Searched domains are not stored in the analytics database or used to build a search history. Public requests are rate-limited to protect the service and upstream registries. Read the privacy notice for precise details.
